Welcome, Alumni!

The LLYC Alumni Program exists to help former campers and staff members continue the important relationships and life changes that came about during your summers in the Frio Canyon. We share the mission and vision of The H. E. Butt Family Foundation, which exists to serve God by providing opportunities for people to encounter God for the transformation of daily life, work, and our world.

WORKING WITH PURPOSE: Sarah Ridout Woolsey & The Impact Guild

This is Sarah Woolsey — formerly Ridout. I currently live in San Antonio with my husband Bill and 1-year old daughter Micah. We are one of those “camp couples” who met at LLYC and have hilarious photos together of our 6th grade selves. Growing up in Kerrville, there were all kinds of wonderful relationships to the Foundation that were really formative. More than anything, camp expanded my imagination for the creativity of God and brought […]

A Contigo Night for the Books!

Last night Contigo was inundated with diverse ages and personalities from our LLYC Alumni family. We made use of their blankets and fire pit while we exchanged stories and caught up over Alums Ben Edgerton and Andrew Wiseheart’s impressively delicious menu. We laughed until we cried, shifting around the fire on Alum Brian Chilton’s furniture. It was campy and felt like home. Because, at the end of the day and regardless of where we live […]

Maryn on Laity and her 500 mile hike through Spain

How long were you at camp? I was at camp for a total of 13 summers. I started out as a camper at Singing Hills and spent about 7 summers on staff between SH, EV, and HW on Crew, as a Counselor, Work Crew Boss, Kitchen Director, and Girls Director. You just finished an 800km trek through Spain. What inspired this journey? The last few years of my life have felt crazy to me; a […]

Registration & FOMO

We all know the feeling: you’re antsy and on the edge of your seat waiting for camp registration to open. You want your kid to get in to LLYC or you are an alum who wants to take your family to LLFC for a week next summer. Now, if you were a 70’s or 80’s camper, chances are you leisurely mailed in your camp registration back in the day. In the 90’s, demand increased a […]

LLYC Alumni does Laity Lodge Family Camp

The rain took a small break last weekend while our beloved LLYC Alumni descended upon LLFC for some family fun in the Canyon. So many well-loved alums gathered together, swapping stories, counting up the years since they’d been back to this place they hold so dear, all while making new memories with their families over a sweet weekend at Headwaters. Pumpkins were carved, Round Up classics were belted out and you better believe dance moves […]

Paige Perry

How many summers have you been at LLYC? Wow, it’s been 15 years! I got a late start — was too afraid to leave home until I was an older camper, but ever since I haven’t been able to leave. I enjoyed my time as a camper, but really began to thrive and truly love camp as a staff member. 2004-2006: Camper at Echo Valley (Cabins D, E, H) 2007: Work Crew at Echo 2008-2010: […]
